  1. Painting Color for Translucency

    screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/86ojhf4r1x25n8v/translucency-20140401.jpg

    [Problem]
How to change the texture map to be able to partially see through instead of using opaque textures?

    [Concept]
    - We know that we will not need transparent coloring because this is painted when the mask is created to define what is captured and not captured. Not captured = Transparent.
    - Translucency occurs when the texture map/UV map needs its opacity changed to mimic:
    - tinted windows in a car as suggested in the screenshot
    - shower doors
    - shadows
    - water, ice, frost, snowflake
    - colored liquid
    - jewelry
    - plastics
    - human skin
    - lamp…

    • Even Smarter Neitra

      screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/naaeauxh44vw3x7/smarter-neitra-20140325.jpg

      [Enhancement]
Increasing the chances of tightening the mask with more passes based on prior adjustments without having to refine each image one by one.

      [Concept]
You notice once the box in 3D has been adjusted and in the 2D view when editing the image using a bounding 2D rectangle can be defined along with deselecting and selecting tools for the first past is made where Neitra is making discoveries.

The discoveries should be pushed farther by accepting more passes after the first pass to reduce the number of times in fixing the mask over all images. This could…

      • Fast Custom Quick Mask using External Photo Editor for Complex Objects

        screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jdcm7f08thrmjkb/custom-quick-mask-20140312.jpg

When trying to build complex/intricate shapes:
        - tree branches
        - hair/fur
        - donuts
        - jewelry

This is similar to the Content-Aware mask concept in that:

        - choose the external photo editor of choice, mine is again Adobe Photoshop
        - within Neitra importing of images example: DSC_0875.jpg would also have an adjacent image of DSC_0875-mask.jpg to link itself automagically, which is self explanatory in the screenshot.
        - icons remain the same as what happens in the Content-Aware state, though the camera doesn’t make too much sense but instead could be used for other data, not sure what yet but…

        • Paint on Thumbnail First

          screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zl4ws246034yjm5/paint-by-thumbnail-20140320.jpg

          [Enhancement]
On larger image too much area space to cover.

          [Concept]
Wouldn’t it be nice to paint on thumbnail first for only X # of pixels to cover the whole surface area of what you are after in the larger image above. Then if needed make refinements in the larger image.

          [Explanation]
          - As you paint on the thumbnail you will see the color be painted on the larger image above
          - You could zoom in and out of the Thumbnail as you currently do with the larger image for more refined painting
          - Trying to find a…

          • Faster Quick Masking using Content-Aware with Single Image

            screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/okb72blqlt83bu3/content-aware-quick-mask-single-image-20140312.jpg

This concept is more complex because now the content aware image is the same for all thumbnails that are linked across. I think this concept would take alot more processing power and image analysis.

            - Neitra could do its own pseudo Content Awareness by rotating the one thumbnail and matching by Swatch colors or by using a Convolution Filter
            - Neitra would be guessing that a user is moving every 10 to 15 degrees Neitra could discover on approximation.
            - More than likely the user will have the object in the center of the photo, rather offset
            -…

            • Tethered Masked Thumbnails

              screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uir7s5c0v5e978b/tethered-masking-20140318.jpg

              [Problem]
My prior concepts are 2 big for the editing area. This was more to understand how the masking would tie into the environment by adding to additional image -CA and -Mask for Neitra to find associated images to attach to automagically.

              [Concept]
              this layout
              https://www.dropbox.com/s/jdcm7f08thrmjkb/custom-quick-mask-20140312.jpg

has now been condensed into this new layout
              https://www.dropbox.com/s/uir7s5c0v5e978b/tethered-masking-20140318.jpg

              [Explanation]
              - the link is the tether, if the link doesn’t occur a + sign would replace to add an image manually
              - camera icon: could be used for quick focus and a retry of the mask could occur
              - trash can icon…

              • Faster Quick Masking with Content-Aware

                screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/ezm8fiz8wwv40f3/fRtY_1NUtk

To achieve this concept would be to use a photo editor of choice, mine is to use Adobe Photoshop and leverage the built in content-aware fill.

Within Neitra importing of images example: DSC_0875.jpg would also have an adjacent image of DSC_0875-CA.jpg to link itself automagically, which is self explanatory in the screenshot of the link between the 2 thumbnail images.

                - when the tab of Content-Aware Quick Mask is clicked on this would collapse the linked area along with associated images, the masked images would remain viewable to the user.
                - camera icon: could be used for quick…

                • Cameras should automatically get off when we start another process.

Cameras in 3d workspace should automatically get off when we start another process like 2D masking after 3D masking.

At this point of time, this holds good in all the stages of modelling. As it shows cameras alignment of the model in 3d window. It is left to the user whether he wants to keep it on or off.
